Day 1 – MONDAY - MATERA
Arrival in the morning to Bari, meeting with our assistant and transfer to Matera.
A hypothetical walk can be started from the old town with a magnificent view of the Sasso Barisano and proceed towards P.zza Pastures to visit the Sasso Caveoso, where there are the narrow streets and ancient neighborhoods. Don't miss a visit to the House cave, peasant typically decorated, and then climb on Mount Errone, where there are the Churches of San Giovanni in Monterrone (11th century) and Madonna De Idris (13th century). Visit to the Church of San Pietro Caveoso, with the sober façade of the 17th century.
To finish your walk you can visit one of the many craft workshops to learn about products of ceramic production of Matera. Free afternoon. Dinner and overnight.

Day 2TUESDAY – ALBEROBELLO / POLIGNANO
Breakfast. Departure for the visit of the Itria Valley: first stage is Alberobello, little village rising in the heart of the Murgia of the Trullis with its characteristic old town which is World Heritage Site protected by UNESCO. Alberobello preserves a historical nucleus entirely composed by trulli, residences built with dry calcareous stone, base bleached with alive mortar and roof in shape of cone built with grey stones. The summit of these particular constructions is often embellished with decorative symbols of various form traced with milk of mortar representing zodiac or religious signs. In this particular enchanting scenery, you will take a walk in the old town, in particular the Rione Monti and along the run you can stop and taste the famous Rosoli (home made liqueurs) and sweets made with almonds. Transfer to Polignano a Mare. Polignano is characterized by over 12 Km of coasts of a crystalline sea and a series of natural caves dug by the action of the sea. Native city of the singer Domenico Modugno, Polignano is only 30 Km far from the chief town of Region, Bari. Dinner and overnight.

Day 3 –  WEDNESDAY – LECCE
Breakfast. Visit to the city of Lecce, cradle of the Baroque, beginning from the Roman amphitheater built in the Augustan age in order to entertain up to 14.000 spectators and realized
in the eastern side of the Roman city, on one side by digging in the soil and on the other side by building arcades and columns, it is near Sant’Oronzo Plaza. The visit to the castle of Charles V, the Cathedral, the old city. Brunch in typical “pucceria” and free time in the afternoon.
Overnight.

Day 4 –  THURSDAY - OTRANTO
Breakfast.  Departure to Otranto, 30 Km near Lecce. It is the most oriental town of Italy. For long decades it has been the cultural, political and economic center of Salento, considered since the antiquity a natural bridge between the Mediterranean area and the East, Otranto still preserves
the traces of the meeting among different cultures. Particularly suggestive is the castle widened by the Aragon family to implement the existing defensive structure. The whole medieval suburb, that appears as a fortitude, tells us the history of the permanent danger represented by the Turks culminated in the tragic invasion in 1480. Proceeding few kilometers north wards, you will reach the Alimini Lakes, little bodies of water communicating with the sea, where the homonym beaches
extend, probably the most appreciated in Apulia. Return to Lecce, dinner and overnight.

Day 5 –  “BARI VECCHIA” and departure
Breakfast.  Departure to Bari. Arrival in the city centre and visit of “Bari Vecchia” beginning from the Basilica of St. Nicolas, one of the principal places of Christianity of the city, two hundred meters away from the other important city religious pole, the cathedral. Built in the heart of town as a great shrine, the church holds the bones of the Saint coming from Myra. It has been for centuries the bridge between the Christian west and the oriental spirituality. We suggest to visit the crypt, guarding the grave of Saint Nicolas and the oriental chapel, where still today are celebrated the orthodox rites. At last panoramic walk to visit Piazza del Ferrarese, Palazzo dell’Acquedotto Pugliese, the Norman-Swabian castle, the Petruzzelli Theatre.
Transfer to Bari Airport.
